The istropolitana project is one of the theatre festivals in Central Europe
which the VŠMU holds regularly every 2 years. It presents the best of
creative work of students from academies of dramatic arts.
An important aspect of stagings performed at the 2006 festival is that they are
interactive. Istropolitana doesn‘t display only the national character of school
performances. It is also a means to get to know the creative and teaching
processes of academies through workshops and discussions.
For the second time in the festival‘s history all performances will be watched
by a professional jury which will make awards in several categories
(the best stage performance, the best actor/actress,.the most interresting
theatre action.)
Audiences will vote for the most successful play.
The Biennial is a competitive display of stage performances from dramatic
academies, created and presented by students in the main programme. This
special event has a grand opening ceremony, and a closing ceremony at which
category winners will be announced and presentations made.Part of the
festival is showing current creative work of Academy ofMusical and
Dramatic Arts in Bratislava including stagings and also work of the
Departments of Stage and Costume Design, and of Puppetry. Discussions are
an essential part of this biennial as creators and their artistic works meet each
other and share their experiences and opinions in a good environment.
